Verse 22

They will be gathered together like prisoners in a pit; they will be shut in a dungeon, and after many days they will be punished.

He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from there and let them down to Jeremiah in the cistern with ropes. 12 Ebed-Melech the Cushite said to Jeremiah, "Put these worn-out rags and clothes under your arms to pad the ropes." Jeremiah did so, 13 and they pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the guard.
