- Zech 12:2-8 : 2 Behold, I am making Jerusalem a cup of reeling for all the surrounding nations. Even Judah will be besieged as Jerusalem is attacked. 3 And on that day, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who try to lift it will be severely injured, and all the nations of the earth will gather against her. 4 On that day,” declares the Lord, “I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the nations with blindness. 5 Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are our strength in the Lord Almighty, their God.’ 6 On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire pot in a woodpile and like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples on the right and on the left, while Jerusalem will remain secure in her place. 7 The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not exceed that of Judah. 8 On that day, the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. - Mark 16:15-20 : 15 He said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.' 16 'Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.' 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will cast out demons, and they will speak in new tongues. 18 They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them. They will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover. 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the accompanying signs. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.
- 1 Cor 1:21-28 : 21 For since in God’s wisdom the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles, 24 But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. 26 Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,

These represent four kingdoms that will emerge from that nation, but they will not have its power. 23 In the latter part of their reign, when the transgressors have reached their full measure, a stern-faced king, skilled in intrigue, will arise. 24 His power will be great—but not by his own strength. He will cause astounding devastation, succeed in whatever he does, and destroy mighty men and the holy people. 25 Through his cunning, he will cause deceit to prosper under his hand, and in his own mind, he will exalt himself. He will deliver us from Assyria when they invade our land and march across our borders. 6 The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man nor depend on the sons of men. 7 The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it goes, and no one can rescue. 8 Your hand will be lifted up in victory over your adversaries, and all your enemies will be cut off. 9 On that day, declares the LORD, I will cut off your horses from among you and destroy your chariots.
- Ps 49:2-9 : 2 Listen to this, all you peoples; give ear, all who dwell on the earth, 3 both low and high, rich and poor alike. 4 My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding. 5 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will expound my riddle on the harp. 6 Why should I fear in evil days, when iniquity surrounds me, at my heels? 7 Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the abundance of their riches— 8 no man can redeem another or give to God a ransom for him— 9 for the redemption of their soul is costly, and it ceases forever—
