1 Chr 23:1-26:19 : 1 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
2 He gathered all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites.
3 The Levites, thirty years old and older, were counted by their heads, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.
4 Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of the Lord, six thousand were officers and judges,
5 four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments David had made for worship.
6 David organized them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 The Gershonites: Laadan and Shimei.
8 The sons of Laadan: Jehiel the chief, Zetham, and Joel—three in all.
9 The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran—three. These were the heads of the families of Laadan.
10 The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah—four in all.
11 Jahath was the chief, and Ziza the second. Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; they were counted as one family with one duty.
12 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel—four.
13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the Lord, to serve Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name forever.
14 As for Moses, the man of God, his sons were included among the tribe of Levi.
15 The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
16 The descendants of Gershom: Shebuel was the chief.
17 The descendants of Eliezer: Rehabiah was the chief. Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.
18 The descendants of Izhar: Shelomith was the chief.
19 The descendants of Hebron: Jeriah was the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 The descendants of Uzziel: Micah was the chief and Isshiah the second.
21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleazar died having no sons, only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.
23 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth—three in all.
24 These were the sons of Levi by their families, the heads of the fathers' households, listed by name, individually numbered, who were doing the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and older.
25 For David said, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.'
26 So now the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service.
27 According to the last instructions of David, the number of the Levites was from twenty years old and upward.
28 Their job was to assist the descendants of Aaron in the service of the house of the Lord, overseeing the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial cleansing of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God.
29 They were also responsible for the bread of the Presence, the fine flour for the grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baking of offerings in the pan, the well-mixed offerings, and all measures of quantity and size.
30 They were to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the Lord, and also every evening.
31 They were to offer all burnt offerings to the Lord on the sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed festivals as prescribed, continually before the Lord.
32 In this way they fulfilled their duty to care for the Tent of Meeting, the holy place, and their brothers, the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the house of the Lord.
1 The divisions of the sons of Aaron were as follows: The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
3 David, along with Zadok from the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech from the sons of Ithamar, organized them according to their duties in their service.
4 There were more leaders among the sons of Eleazar than among the sons of Ithamar. They divided them: sixteen heads of ancestral families from the sons of Eleazar, and eight from the sons of Ithamar.
5 They divided them by casting lots, the same for both groups, for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of God among both the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar.
6 Shemaiah, son of Nethanel, the scribe, a Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king, the officials, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of the families of the priests and of the Levites. One family was drawn for Eleazar and another for Ithamar.
7 The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
8 the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
9 the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
10 the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
11 the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
12 the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
13 the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
14 the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
15 the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
16 the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
17 the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
18 the twenty-third to Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
19 These were their assigned duties for their service when they came into the house of the Lord, as prescribed by their father Aaron, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
20 As for the rest of the Levites: from the sons of Amram, Shubael, and from the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.
21 From Rehabiah: from the sons of Rehabiah, Isshiah was the chief.
22 From the Izharites, Shelomoth, and from the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.
23 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah was the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
24 The sons of Uzziel: Micah; from the sons of Micah, Shamir.
25 The brother of Micah was Isshiah; from the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.
26 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi, and the son of Jaaziah, his son.
27 The sons of Merari through Jaaziah were Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 From Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.
29 From Kish: the sons of Kish were Jerahmeel.
30 The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites according to their ancestral families.
31 They also cast lots, like their brothers the sons of Aaron, in the presence of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and of the Levites, the families of the chief just as the youngest, all alike.
1 David, along with the army leaders, set apart the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun for the work of prophesying, using harps, lyres, and cymbals. Their work and number of those engaged in this service were recorded.
2 From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the guidance of the king.
3 From Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun were Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, Mattithiah—six in total. They were under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praising the LORD.
4 From Heman: the sons of Heman were Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
5 All these were the sons of Heman, the king's seer, who was entrusted with the words of God to exalt his power. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these men were under their father's direction for the music in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres, and harps for the service of the house of God. They were under the direction of the king, Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
7 The number of them, along with their relatives, all trained and skilled in music for the LORD, was 288.
8 They cast lots for their duties, young and old alike, teacher as well as student.
9 The first lot came out for Asaph's son Joseph, and his sons and relatives—twelve in all.
10 The second lot came out for Gedaliah, and his sons and relatives—twelve in all.
11 The third lot came out for Zaccur, and his sons and relatives—twelve in all.

1 These are the divisions of the gatekeepers: from the Korahites, Meshelemiah, son of Kore, from the sons of Asaph.
2 Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4 Obed-Edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth.
5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth, for God had blessed him.
6 To Shemaiah his son were born sons who ruled over their father's house, for they were mighty men of valor.
7 The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad. His brothers Elihu and Semachiah were also men of valor.
8 All these were descendants of Obed-Edom: they, their sons, and their brothers, able men with strength for the service—62 in total from Obed-Edom.
9 Meshelemiah had 18 sons and brothers who were men of valor.
10 Hosah, from the descendants of Merari, also had sons: Shimri the leader (though he was not the firstborn, his father appointed him as leader).
11 Hilkiah was the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. Altogether, Hosah had 13 sons and brothers.
12 These divisions of the gatekeepers were assigned to the leading men to have responsibilities beside their brothers, to serve in the house of the LORD.
13 They cast lots, young and old alike, for their families, for each gate.
14 The lot for the east gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for Zechariah, his son—a wise counselor—and his lot came out for the north gate.
15 The lot for the south gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the responsibility for the storehouses went to his sons.
16 To Shuppim and Hosah fell the west gate, along with the Shallecheth Gate at the ascending road. Guard was set up opposite guard.
17 On the east side, there were six Levites; on the north side, four per day; on the south side, four per day; and at the storerooms, two by two.
18 For the Parbar to the west, there were four at the highway and two at the Parbar itself.
19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, from the Korahite sons and the sons of Merari.
