  • Dan 7:3-9 : 3 Four great beasts, each different from the other, came up out of the sea. 4 The first was like a lion and had wings like an eagle. I watched until its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground to stand on two feet like a man, and a human heart was given to it. 5 Then I saw a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said to it, 'Arise, devour much flesh!' 6 After this, I looked, and behold, there was another beast, like a leopard. It had four wings of a bird on its back, and the beast had four heads. Dominion was given to it. 7 After this, I saw in the visions of the night a fourth beast, terrifying, dreadful, and exceedingly strong. It had large iron teeth and devoured, crushed, and trampled the remainder with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that came before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I was considering the horns, and behold, another horn, a small one, came up among them. Three of the first horns were uprooted before it. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth speaking great things. 9 I continued watching until thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, and its wheels were burning fire. 10 A river of fire was flowing and coming out from before Him. A thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court sat, and the books were opened. 11 I continued to watch because of the sound of the boastful words spoken by the horn. I watched until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. 13 I continued watching in the visions of the night, and behold, with the clouds of heaven came one like a son of man. He approached the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. 14 He was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom, so that all peoples, nations, and languages would serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. 15 I, Daniel, was troubled in my spirit within me, and the visions of my head alarmed me. 16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him the truth about all this. So he told me and revealed the interpretation of these things. 17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings that will rise from the earth.

32 The head of this image was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze.

33 Its legs were made of iron, and its feet were part iron and part clay.

34 While you were watching, a stone was cut out, not by human hands. It struck the statue on its iron and clay feet and broke them into pieces.

35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were all crushed together and became like chaff from a summer threshing floor. The wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

36 This was the dream, and we will now tell the king its interpretation.

37 You, O king, are the king of kings, for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory.

38 He has placed into your hands control over every person, animal, and bird that dwells under the heavens. Wherever they live, He has given you sovereignty over them all. You are the head of gold.

39 After you, another kingdom will arise, inferior to yours; then a third kingdom, made of bronze, which will rule over the whole earth.

40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, for iron crushes and shatters everything. And just as iron breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all the others.

41 But as you saw the feet and toes made partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom. However, it will have some of the strength of iron, as you saw the iron mixed with the clay.

42 And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly fragile.

30 But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me because of any wisdom that I have more than anyone else, but so that the interpretation may be made known to the king and that you may understand the thoughts of your heart.
