10For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, to observe it, and to teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel.
11This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, a scribe skilled in the commandments of the Lord and His statutes for Israel:
12"Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven. Perfect peace, and now:

12May the God who has caused His name to dwell there overthrow any king or people who attempt to alter or destroy this house of God in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have issued this decree. Let it be done diligently.
13Then Tattenai, governor of the region Beyond the River, Shethar-Bozenai, and their colleagues carried out the decree of King Darius with all diligence.
3So now, let us make a covenant with our God to send away all these women and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done in accordance with the Law.
