    7Now Jacob's sons had come in from the fields when they heard, and the men were grieved and very angry, because this outrageous act had been done in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter—something that should not be done.

    8Hamor spoke with them, saying, "My son Shechem has set his heart on your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.

    9Make marriages with us: give your daughters to us and take our daughters for yourselves.
