His mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri. 3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly. 4 Therefore, he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, leading to his destruction. 5 He also followed their counsel and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead, and the Syrians wounded Joram. 6 And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds that were given to him at Ramah when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And he answered, What peace, so long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? 23 And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, Treachery, O Ahaziah! 24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and struck Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot. 25 Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Pick him up, and throw him in the plot of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how, when I and you rode together after Ahab his father, the LORD uttered this oracle against him; 26 Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, says the LORD; and I will pay you back in this plot, says the LORD. Now, therefore, take and throw him into the plot of ground, according to the word of the LORD. 27 But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house.
