    14When she looked, there was the king standing by the pillar, according to the custom, with the princes and the trumpeters beside him. All the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets, and Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, 'Treason, Treason!'.

    15Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the army, and said to them, 'Take her outside under guard, and kill anyone who follows her with the sword.' For the priest had said, 'Do not let her be slain in the house of the LORD.'.

    16They seized her, and she went by the way of the horses' entrance to the king's house, and there she was slain.

    17Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, that they would be the LORD's people; and also between the king and the people.

    18All the people of the land went to the house of Baal and tore it down; they thoroughly broke his altars and images in pieces, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

    19He took the commanders over hundreds, the captains, the guard, and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the LORD; they came by way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

    20All the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet, for they had killed Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.

    21Joash was seven years old when he began to reign.

    20And he took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

    1When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal descendants.

    2But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons who were slain. She hid him and his nurse in the bedroom away from Athaliah, so he was not killed.

    3He was hidden with her in the house of the LORD for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.

    4In the seventh year, Jehoiada sent and brought the commanders of hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath from them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.

    5He commanded them, saying, 'This is what you will do: A third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath shall guard the king's house.

    11The guard stood, each with his weapons in hand, surrounding the king from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, by the altar and the temple.

    11But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she did not kill him.

    12And he was hidden with them in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.
