17And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
18So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus says the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What do you have to do with peace? Turn in behind me. And the watchman reported, saying, The messenger reached them, but he has not returned.
19Then he sent another on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus says the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What do you have to do with peace? Turn in behind me.
20And the watchman reported, saying, He reached them and has not returned: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he drives furiously.
21And Joram said, Prepare. And his chariot was prepared. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the plot of land of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22And it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
23And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, Treachery, O Ahaziah!
24And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and struck Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.
25Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Pick him up, and throw him in the plot of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how, when I and you rode together after Ahab his father, the LORD uttered this oracle against him;
22And he said to him that was over the wardrobe, Bring out garments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought out garments for them.
23And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said to the worshippers of Baal, Search and see that none of the servants of the LORD are here with you, but only the worshippers of Baal.
24And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed eighty men outside, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escapes, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.
25And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come out. And they struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
11So Jehu killed all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolk, and his priests, until he left none remaining.
12And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house on the way,
13Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are you? And they answered, We are the brothers of Ahaziah; and we go down to greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.
27But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu pursued him, and said, Strike him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo and died there.
4But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings did not stand before him: how then shall we stand?
5And he who was over the house, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who raised the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants, and will do all that you bid us; we will not make any king: do what is good in your eyes.
6Then he wrote a second letter to them, saying, If you are mine, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me at Jezreel by tomorrow at this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who raised them.
12He brought out the king's son, put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony; they made him king and anointed him; and they clapped their hands and said, 'Long live the king!'.
13When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and the people, she came to the people in the temple of the LORD.
14When she looked, there was the king standing by the pillar, according to the custom, with the princes and the trumpeters beside him. All the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets, and Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, 'Treason, Treason!'.
18And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.
19Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be missing: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whoever is missing, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtlety, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
20And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.
2As soon as this letter comes to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor;
7And the destruction of Ahaziah was ordained by God through visiting Joram, for when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
8And it happened that when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab and found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers who ministered to Ahaziah, he killed them.
11Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.
12Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:
13And she looked, and behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entrance, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded trumpets, also the singers with instruments of music, and those who taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
20And he took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
19He took the commanders over hundreds, the captains, the guard, and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the LORD; they came by way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
16And you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your place.
17And it shall come to pass, that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall slay; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall slay.
32And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? Who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
9And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat each on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.
