    12And Hazael said, "Why does my lord weep?" And he answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will slay with the sword, and will dash their children, and rip up their women with child."

    16And you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your place.

    17And it shall come to pass, that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall slay; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall slay.

    3The anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad, the son of Hazael, all their days.

    4Jehoahaz sought the LORD, and the LORD listened to him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

    9Therefore, he said to the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that you first sent for to your servant I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

    10And Benhadad sent to him, and said, The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

    23And the servants of the king of Syria said to him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.

  • 2Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat thereof.
