    17And there was a very fierce battle that day; and Abner was defeated, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

    14But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.

    15And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty-six thousand men who drew sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who numbered seven hundred chosen men.

    20So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men who were with him a feast.

    21And Abner said to David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a league with you, and that you may reign over all that your heart desires. And David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.

    22And behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them. But Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.

    23When Joab and all the host that was with him had come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

    32And the children of Benjamin said, They are struck down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city to the highways.

    33And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar; and the ambushers of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.

    25And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.

    31And David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, Tear your clothes and gird yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And King David himself followed the bier.

    14Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel and to Bethmaachah, and all the Berites gathered together and followed him.
