17Now I urge you, brethren, mark those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned, and avoid them.
18For such persons do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own appetites; and by smooth talk and flattering words deceive the hearts of the innocent.
22Which all concern things which perish with the using, according to the commandments and doctrines of men?
3If anyone teaches otherwise, and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness;
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
5Useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
19Whose end is destruction, whose god is their stomach, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their mind on earthly things.
6For of this sort are those who creep into households and lead captive gullible women loaded with sins, led away by various lusts,
7Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disqualified concerning the faith.
9But they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifested to all, as theirs also was.
16These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.
17But, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:
18How they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
20O Timothy, guard what has been committed to your trust, avoiding profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;
21Which some professing have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
