9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. All the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the heavy rain.

7 And they issued a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather at Jerusalem;
12 Then all the assembly answered with a loud voice, As you have said, so must we do.
13 But there are many people, and it is a time of heavy rain, and we are not able to stand outside. Nor is this a task that can be accomplished in a day or two, for we have greatly transgressed in this matter.
14 Let our leaders of the entire assembly stand, and let all those in our cities who have taken foreign wives come at appointed times, together with the elders and judges of each city, until the fierce wrath of our God concerning this matter is turned away from us.
27 Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, transgressing against our God by marrying pagan women?

29 They joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and His judgments and His statutes;
30 And that we would not give our daughters to the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:
10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,
11 Which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, The land unto which you go to possess it is an unclean land with the filthiness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
9 Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
12 Otherwise, if you do at all turn back, and join to the remnant of these nations, even those that remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you:
5 And said to them, Hear me, Levites, sanctify yourselves now and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness from the holy place.
10 Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.
25 So I contended with them and cursed them, struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, You shall not give your daughters as wives to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons or yourselves.

10 And now you purpose to keep the children of Judah and Jerusalem as bondmen and bondwomen for yourselves, but are there not with you sins against the LORD your God?
11 Now hear me therefore, and return the captives, whom you have taken captive of your brethren, for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.
14 Should we again break Your commandments and join in affinity with the peoples of these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant or escaping?
7 And do not be like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as you see.
30 Thus I cleansed them of everything foreign, and I assigned duties to the priests and the Levites, each to his service,
6 Let Your ear now be attentive, and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant, which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against You: both I and my father's house have sinned.
