And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and you would not listen? therefore, behold, his blood is now required.

23And they did not know that Joseph understood them; for he spoke to them by an interpreter.
24And he turned himself away from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.
26And Judah said to his brothers, What profit is it if we kill our brother, and conceal his blood?
27Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brothers were content.
29And Reuben returned to the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he tore his clothes.
30And he returned to his brothers, and said, The child is not; and I, where shall I go?
31And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32And they sent the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father; and said, This we have found: know now whether it is your son's coat or not.
17So shall you say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the trespass of your brothers, and their sin, for they did unto you evil, and now, we pray you, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.
15And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will perhaps hate us, and will certainly repay us all the evil that we did unto him.
32For your servant became a guarantee for the lad to my father, saying, If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame to my father forever.
4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See to that yourself.
14And Joseph said to them, That is it that I spoke to you, saying, You are spies:
6And Israel said, Why did you deal so wrongfully with me, as to tell the man whether you had yet a brother?
7And they said, The man asked us specifically about our state and kindred, saying, Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother? And we answered him according to these words: could we know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
7And they said to him, Why does my lord say these words? God forbid that your servants should do such a thing as this:
15And Joseph said to them, What deed is this that you have done? Do you not know that such a man as I can certainly divine?
10And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground.
3And Judah spoke to him, saying, The man solemnly warned us, saying, You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.
29And they came to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them; saying,
9I will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him: if I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever:
