And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who survived Joshua, and who had known all the works of the LORD, which he had done for Israel.

    1Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it happened that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying,

    2Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the children of Israel.
