And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it happened, that when those Ephraimites who had escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said to him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said, No;

9 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If you bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivers them before me, shall I be your head?
10 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not do according to your words.
11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah spoke all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
12 And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have you to do with me, that you have come against me to fight in my land?
13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even to Jabbok, and to Jordan: now therefore restore those lands peacefully.

29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he advanced towards the children of Ammon.
28 And he said to them, Follow after me: for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and allowed not a man to pass over.
15 These are the ones who crossed over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all those in the valleys, to the east and to the west.
9 Moreover, the children of Ammon crossed over Jordan to fight against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was greatly distressed.
32 So Jephthah advanced towards the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
2 And Gilead's wife bore him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they drove Jephthah out, and said to him, You shall not inherit in our father's house; for you are the son of a strange woman.
3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and lived in the land of Tob: and there gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.
15 And they came to the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and spoke with them, saying,

5 Therefore, they said, if we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession, and do not bring us over the Jordan.
7 And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they who pursued after them had gone out, they shut the gate.
2 And the LORD said to Gideon, The people with you are too many for me to hand the Midianites over to you, lest Israel boast against me, saying, My own hand has saved me.
22 Then David arose, and all the people who were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light not one of them was left who had not gone over Jordan.
19 And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month and camped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.

29 And Moses said to them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man armed for battle, before the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession.
32 We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan may be ours.
