22Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule over us, both you, and your son, and your grandson also: for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.
23And Gideon said to them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.
31Nevertheless, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly consume them nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God.
9O Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
13For the people do not turn to him who strikes them, nor do they seek the LORD of hosts.
26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter, for there was no one left free, no help at all for Israel.
27And the LORD did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
12Now therefore, I pray, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shown you kindness, that you will also show kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
17They refused to obey, and were not mindful of Your wonders that You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, and did not forsake them.
1Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people with him, rose early and camped beside the well of Harod, so the Midianite army was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

6And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and did not serve Him.
7And Gideon said, Therefore, when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
22The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they did not depart from them,
5For Israel has not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
