16speaking of these things in all his letters. Some things in these letters are hard to understand, things the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures.
17Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard that you do not get led astray by the error of these unprincipled men and fall from your firm grasp on the truth.
18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on that eternal day.
15Indeed, I will also make every effort that, after my departure, you have a testimony of these things.
16For we did not follow cleverly concocted fables when we made known to you the power and return of our Lord Jesus Christ; no, we were eyewitnesses of his grandeur.

4For certain men have secretly slipped in among you– men who long ago were marked out for the condemnation I am about to describe– ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
14You, however, must continue in the things you have learned and are confident about. You know who taught you
15and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
2You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone,

19Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
13Therefore, get your minds ready for action by being fully sober, and set your hope completely on the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
14Like obedient children, do not comply with the evil urges you used to follow in your ignorance,

4For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know.
17Be imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and watch carefully those who are living this way, just as you have us as an example.
