3The LORD says,“Do what is just and right. Deliver those who have been robbed from those who oppress them. Do not exploit or mistreat resident foreigners who live in your land, children who have no fathers, or widows. Do not kill innocent people in this land.

34Even your clothes are stained with the lifeblood of the poor who had not done anything wrong; you did not catch them breaking into your homes. Yet, in spite of all these things you have done,

29I will certainly punish them for doing such things!” says the LORD.“I will certainly bring retribution on such a nation as this!
23Your officials are rebels, they associate with thieves. All of them love bribery, and look for payoffs. They do not take up the cause of the orphan, or defend the rights of the widow.
27Her officials are like wolves in her midst rending their prey– shedding blood and destroying lives– so they can get dishonest profit.

20So I said,“O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, you are a just judge! You examine people’s hearts and minds. I want to see you pay them back for what they have done because I trust you to vindicate my cause.”
15When you spread out your hands in prayer, I look the other way; when you offer your many prayers, I do not listen, because your hands are covered with blood.
16Wash! Cleanse yourselves! Remove your sinful deeds from my sight. Stop sinning!
17Learn to do what is right! Promote justice! Give the oppressed reason to celebrate! Take up the cause of the orphan! Defend the rights of the widow!
11Therefore, because you make the poor pay taxes on their crops and exact a grain tax from them, you will not live in the houses you built with chiseled stone, nor will you drink the wine from the fine vineyards you planted.
12Certainly I am aware of your many rebellious acts and your numerous sins. You torment the innocent, you take bribes, and you deny justice to the needy at the city gate.
17But now you are preoccupied with the judgment due the wicked, judgment and justice take hold of you.
9The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster.
17For I see everything they do. Their wicked ways are not hidden from me. Their sin is not hidden away where I cannot see it.

9He said to me,“The sin of the house of Israel and Judah is extremely great; the land is full of murder, and the city is full of corruption, for they say,‘The LORD has abandoned the land, and the LORD does not see!’
7They are eager to do evil, quick to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful; they crush and destroy.
10You build Zion through bloody crimes, Jerusalem through unjust violence.
11Her leaders take bribes when they decide legal cases, her priests proclaim rulings for profit, and her prophets read omens for pay. Yet they claim to trust the LORD and say,“The LORD is among us. Disaster will not overtake us!”
10I, the LORD, probe into people’s minds. I examine people’s hearts. I deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done.
3Why do you force me to witness injustice? Why do you put up with wrongdoing? Destruction and violence confront me; conflict is present and one must endure strife.
19Egypt will be desolate and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, because of the violence they did to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
30“‘How sick is your heart, declares the Sovereign LORD, when you perform all of these acts, the deeds of a bold prostitute.
10You must not shed innocent blood in your land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, for that would make you guilty.
18As for his father, because he practices extortion, robs his brother, and does what is not good among his people, he will die for his iniquity.
