11And Moses said to the LORD,“Why have you afflicted your servant? Why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of this entire people on me?
12Did I conceive this entire people? Did I give birth to them, that you should say to me,‘Carry them in your arms, as a foster father bears a nursing child,’ to the land which you swore to their fathers?
13From where shall I get meat to give to this entire people, for they cry to me,‘Give us meat, that we may eat!’
14I am not able to bear this entire people alone, because it is too heavy for me!
18“And say to the people,‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, and you will eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying,“Who will give us meat to eat, for life was good for us in Egypt?” Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
19You will eat, not just one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,
20but a whole month, until it comes out your nostrils and makes you sick, because you have despised the LORD who is among you and have wept before him, saying,“Why did we ever come out of Egypt?”’”
4Complaints about Food Now the mixed multitude who were among them craved more desirable foods, and so the Israelites wept again and said,“If only we had meat to eat!
11and the LORD spoke to Moses:
12“I have heard the murmurings of the Israelites. Tell them,‘During the evening you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be satisfied with bread, so that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’”
5And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness, for there is no bread or water, and we detest this worthless food.”
8Moses said,“You will know this when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening and bread in the morning to satisfy you, because the LORD has heard your murmurings that you are murmuring against him. As for us, what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.”

11The Punishment from God The LORD said to Moses,“How long will this people despise me, and how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs that I have done among them?
6But now we are dried up, and there is nothing at all before us except this manna!”
15When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another,“What is it?” because they did not know what it was. Moses said to them,“It is the bread that the LORD has given you for food.
16“This is what the LORD has commanded:‘Each person is to gather from it what he can eat, an omer per person according to the number of your people; each one will pick it up for whoever lives in his tent.’”
32And the people stayed up all that day, all that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail. The one who gathered the least gathered ten homers, and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.
33But while the meat was still between their teeth, before they chewed it, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.
46And all those numbered totaled 603,550.
3But the people were very thirsty there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said,“Why in the world did you bring us up from Egypt– to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
4Then Moses cried out to the LORD,“What will I do with this people?– a little more and they will stone me!”

52Then the LORD spoke to Moses:
11and they said to Moses,“Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?
16The Response of God The LORD said to Moses,“Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know are elders of the people and officials over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting; let them take their position there with you.
11But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God and said,“O LORD, why does your anger burn against your people, whom you have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
21“Separate yourselves from among this community, that I may consume them in an instant.”
26The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron:
27“How long must I bear with this evil congregation that murmurs against me? I have heard the complaints of the Israelites that they murmured against me.
30Then Moses returned to the camp along with the elders of Israel.
25But Moses said,“Will you also provide us with sacrifices and burnt offerings that we may present them to the LORD our God?
46and 16,000 people.
4“Number the people from twenty years old and upward, just as the LORD commanded Moses and the Israelites who went out from the land of Egypt.”
20Yes, he struck a rock and water flowed out, streams gushed forth. But can he also give us food? Will he provide meat for his people?”
4Why have you brought up the LORD’s community into this wilderness? So that we and our cattle should die here?
21The LORD said to Moses,“Go down and solemnly warn the people, lest they force their way through to the LORD to look, and many of them perish.
19Moses said to them,“No one is to keep any of it until morning.”
9Then the LORD said to Moses:“I have seen this people. Look what a stiff-necked people they are!
35Now the Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was inhabited; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.
