20Then I said,“Look up, Jerusalem, and see the enemy that is coming from the north. Where now is the flock of people that were entrusted to your care? Where now are the‘sheep’ that you take such pride in?
3For a nation from the north will attack Babylon. It will lay her land waste. People and animals will flee out of it. No one will inhabit it.’
20‘So pay attention to the LORD’s message, all you exiles whom I have sent to Babylon from Jerusalem.’
15But in that time they will affirm them with‘I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the people of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other lands where he had banished them.’ At that time I will bring them back to the land I gave their ancestors.”
32The LORD of Heaven’s Armies says,‘Disaster will soon come on one nation after another. A mighty storm of military destruction is rising up from the distant parts of the earth.’

6I will say to the north,‘Hand them over!’ and to the south,‘Don’t hold any back!’ Bring my sons from distant lands, and my daughters from the remote regions of the earth,
7“The LORD of Heaven’s Armies asserts,‘I am about to save my people from the lands of the east and the west.
9So I, the LORD, affirm that I will send for all the peoples of the north and my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it and make them everlasting ruins. I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.
14I will make myself available to you,’ says the LORD.‘Then I will reverse your plight and will regather you from all the nations and all the places where I have exiled you,’ says the LORD.‘I will bring you back to the place from which I exiled you.’
4“The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel says to all those he sent into exile to Babylon from Jerusalem,
11“At that time the people of Judah and Jerusalem will be told,‘A scorching wind will sweep down from the hilltops in the wilderness on my dear people. It will not be a gentle breeze for winnowing the grain and blowing away the chaff.
12No, a wind too strong for that will come at my bidding. Yes, even now I, myself, am calling down judgment on them.’
3Each of you will go straight through the gaps in the walls; you will be thrown out toward Harmon.” The LORD is speaking!
14‘Rather, I will sweep them away in a storm into all the nations they are not familiar with.’ Thus the land had become desolate because of them, with no one crossing through or returning, for they had made the fruitful land a waste.”
24“The LORD says,‘That is why I will scatter your people like chaff that is blown away by a desert wind.
10“Sing out and be happy, Zion my daughter! For look, I have come; I will settle in your midst,” says the LORD.
18At that time the nation of Judah and the nation of Israel will be reunited. Together they will come back from a land in the north to the land that I gave to your ancestors as a permanent possession.
8But at that time they will affirm them with“I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the descendants of the former nation of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other lands where he had banished them.” At that time they will live in their own land.’”

16You will winnow them and the wind will blow them away; the wind will scatter them. You will rejoice in the LORD; you will boast in the Holy One of Israel.
17So I, the LORD, say:“You have not really obeyed me and granted freedom to your neighbor and fellow countryman. Therefore, I will grant you freedom, the freedom to die in war, or by starvation or disease. I, the LORD, affirm it! I will make all the kingdoms of the earth horrified at what happens to you.
8Then I will reply,‘I will bring them back from the land of the north. I will gather them in from the distant parts of the earth. Blind and lame people will come with them, so will pregnant women and women about to give birth. A vast throng of people will come back here.
2If they ask you,‘Where should we go?’ tell them the LORD says this:“Those who are destined to die of disease will go to death by disease. Those who are destined to die in war will go to death in war. Those who are destined to die of starvation will go to death by starvation. Those who are destined to go into exile will go into exile.”
30The LORD says,“Flee quickly, you who live in Hazor. Take up refuge in remote places. For King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has laid out plans to attack you. He has formed his strategy on how to defeat you.”
11Then LORD’s message came to me:
31For a remnant will leave Jerusalem; survivors will come out of Mount Zion. The zeal of LORD of Heaven’s Armies will accomplish this.
1The LORD says,“I will cause a destructive wind to blow against Babylon and the people who inhabit Babylonia.
16They are saying,‘Announce to the surrounding nations,“The enemy is coming!” Proclaim this message to Jerusalem:“Those who besiege cities are coming from a distant land. They are ready to raise the battle cry against the towns in Judah.”’
9‘You expected a large harvest, but instead there was little. And when you would bring it home, I would blow it right away. Why?’ asks the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.‘Because my temple remains in ruins, thanks to each of you favoring his own house!
14Like a frightened gazelle or a sheep with no shepherd, each will turn toward home, each will run to his homeland.
31Wail, O city gate! Cry out, O city! Melt with fear, all you Philistines! For out of the north comes a cloud of smoke, and there are no stragglers in its ranks.
17Jeremiah Laments for and Prays for the Soon-to-be-Judged People Gather your belongings together and prepare to leave the land, you people of Jerusalem who are being besieged.
20I will remove the one from the north far from you. I will drive him out to a dry and desolate place. Those in front will be driven eastward into the Dead Sea, and those in back westward into the Mediterranean Sea. His stench will rise up as a foul smell.” Indeed, the LORD has accomplished great things.
15and come from your place, from the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a vast army.
10Listen to the LORD’s message, O nations. Proclaim it in the faraway lands along the sea. Say,“The one who scattered Israel will regather them. He will watch over his people like a shepherd watches over his flock.”
2“Look! Enemies are gathering in the north like water rising in a river. They will be like an overflowing stream. They will overwhelm the whole country and everything in it like a flood. They will overwhelm the cities and their inhabitants. People will cry out in alarm. Everyone living in the country will cry out in pain.
4The Lord Reminds Them of the Unfaithfulness of Their Ancestors Now listen to what the LORD’s message, you descendants of Jacob, all you family groups from the nation of Israel.
3For I, the LORD, affirm that the time will come when I will reverse the plight of my people, Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD.‘I will bring them back to the land I gave their ancestors and they will take possession of it once again.’”
20Leave Babylon! Flee from the Babylonians! Announce it with a shout of joy! Make this known! Proclaim it throughout the earth! Say,‘The LORD protects his servant Jacob.
