I say to Jerusalem, 'You will be rebuilt,' and to the temple, 'Your foundation will be laid.' 1 This is what the LORD says to His anointed one, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have strengthened to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut. 2 I will go before you and level the mountains; I will break down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron. 3 I will give you treasures hidden in darkness, and riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by name. 4 For the sake of my servant Jacob and Israel, my chosen one, I have called you by name and given you a title of honor, though you do not know me. 5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you do not acknowledge me.

  • Dan 7:5-7 : 5 Then I saw a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said to it, 'Arise, devour much flesh!' 6 After this, I looked, and behold, there was another beast, like a leopard. It had four wings of a bird on its back, and the beast had four heads. Dominion was given to it. 7 After this, I saw in the visions of the night a fourth beast, terrifying, dreadful, and exceedingly strong. It had large iron teeth and devoured, crushed, and trampled the remainder with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that came before it, and it had ten horns.

  • Dan 8:3-9 : 3 I looked up, and there before me was a ram with two high horns standing beside the canal. One horn was higher than the other, and the higher one grew later. 4 I saw the ram charging to the west, north, and south. No animal could stand against it, and no one could rescue from its power. It did as it pleased and became great. 5 As I was pondering this, suddenly a male goat came from the west, crossing the entire earth without touching the ground, and it had a notable horn between its eyes. 6 It came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and charged at it in great rage. 7 I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking it and breaking its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against it; the goat knocked it to the ground and trampled on it, and no one could rescue the ram from its power. 8 The male goat became very great, but at the height of its power, its large horn was broken off, and in its place, four prominent horns grew toward the four winds of heaven. 9 Out of one of them came a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, the east, and the Beautiful Land. 10 It grew until it reached the host of heaven, and it cast some of the stars and the host down to the earth and trampled on them. 11 It even set itself up to be as great as the commander of the army of the LORD; it took away the daily sacrifice from him, and the place of his sanctuary was thrown down. 12 Because of rebellion, the army was given over to the horn along with the daily sacrifice. It cast truth to the ground and succeeded in whatever it did. 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one speaking, 'How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled—the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?' 14 He said to me, 'It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.'
  • Dan 8:20 : 20 The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia.
  • Dan 10:20 : 20 Then he said, 'Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I leave, the prince of Greece will come.'
  • Dan 11:2-9 : 2 Now I will tell you the truth: Behold, three more kings will arise in Persia, and the fourth will be far richer than all of them. By his wealth, he will gather strength and stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece. 3 Then a mighty king will arise, and he will rule with great authority and do as he pleases. 4 But as soon as he has risen, his kingdom will be broken apart and divided toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants and will not have the same authority he ruled with, for his kingdom will be uprooted and given to others. 5 Then the king of the South will grow strong, but one of his officials will become even stronger than him and will rule with great power over his own dominion. 6 After some years, they will form an alliance. The daughter of the king of the South will go to the king of the North to make an agreement, but she will not retain her power, and neither will the king nor his power endure. She, her escort, her child, and the one who supported her will all be surrendered during those times. 7 Out of her family line, someone will arise to take her place. He will attack the forces and enter the stronghold of the king of the North. He will fight against them and prevail. 8 He will also carry off their gods, their metal images, and their precious articles of silver and gold into Egypt. For some years, he will refrain from attacking the king of the North. 9 Then the king of the North will invade the realm of the king of the South but will return to his own land. 10 His sons will prepare for war and assemble a great army. They will sweep through, overflow, and pass on to launch attacks and stir up conflicts as far as the enemy's fortress. 11 Then the king of the South will be enraged and will march out to fight against the king of the North. The king of the North will raise a large army, but it will be handed over to the king of the South. 12 When the army is captured, the king's heart will become proud. Though he will overthrow tens of thousands, he will not remain strong. 13 The king of the North will return and raise a greater army than before. After several years, he will come again with a large army and much equipment. 14 During those times, many will rise up against the king of the South. Violent men among your own people will rise up to fulfill the vision, but they will fall. 15 So the king of the North will come and build siege ramps and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will have no strength to resist. 16 The invader will do as he pleases, and no one will be able to withstand him. He will establish himself in the Glorious Land, and it will be completely under his control. 17 He will set his face to come with the power of his whole kingdom, making agreements, and will give a daughter of women in marriage to destroy it. But his plan will not succeed or help him. 18 Then he will turn his attention to the coastlands and will capture many. However, a commander will put an end to his arrogance and will repay him for his scorn. 19 Afterward, he will turn back toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble and fall and not be found again. 20 In his place, one will arise who will send out a tax collector to maintain the royal splendor. In a short time, he will be destroyed, though not by anger or in battle.
