Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the LORD today? 6 Then the leaders of the families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly. 7 They gave for the work of the house of God: five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 And those who had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 The people rejoiced at their willing offering, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. And King David also rejoiced greatly. 10 David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, "Blessed are you, LORD, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting." 11 Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; indeed, everything in the heavens and on the earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealth and honor come from you, and you rule over everything. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks and praise your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give so generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. 15 For we are strangers and temporary residents before you, as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. 16 LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you. 17 I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. In the uprightness of my heart, I have freely offered all these things; and now I have seen your people, who are present here, joyfully and willingly give to you.
