- Jer 2:23-25 : 23 How can you say, ‘I am not defiled; I have not followed the Baals’? Consider your path in the valley; acknowledge what you have done—like a swift young she-camel running here and there. 24 You are like a wild donkey accustomed to the wilderness, sniffing the wind in her desire. Who can restrain her in her mating season? None of those seeking her will grow weary; in her month, they will find her. 25 Keep your feet from going bare and your throat from thirst. By the roads you sat waiting for lovers, like a nomad in the desert. You have defiled the land with your prostitution and wickedness.
- Mal 1:8-9 : 8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you offer lame or sick animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! How can he be pleased with you? says the LORD of Hosts. 10 Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors so you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you, says the LORD of Hosts, and I will not accept any offerings from your hands. 11 For from the rising of the sun to its setting, my name will be great among the nations. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of Hosts. 12 But you profane it by saying, 'The LORD's table is defiled, and its food is contemptible.' 13 You say, 'What a burden!' and you sniff at it with contempt, says the LORD of Hosts. When you bring stolen, lame, or sick animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands? says the LORD.
