  • Josh 24:5-9 : 5 Then I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt by what I did among them; and afterward, I brought you out. 6 When I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, you came to the sea, and the Egyptians pursued your ancestors with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7 Your ancestors cried out to the LORD, and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians. He brought the sea over them and covered them. Your eyes witnessed what I did to Egypt. Then you lived in the wilderness for a long time. 8 I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. You took possession of their land, and I destroyed them before you. 9 Then Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse you. 10 But I would not listen to Balaam. Instead, he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you from his hand. 11 You crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho. The leaders of Jericho, along with the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites, and Jebusites fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. 12 I sent the hornet ahead of you, and it drove out the two Amorite kings from before you. It was not by your sword or bow. 13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities you did not build. You are living in them and eating from vineyards and olive groves you did not plant. 14 Now, fear the LORD and serve Him with sincerity and truth. Put away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

And he became their Savior. 9 In all their distress, he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and compassion, he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. 10 Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people: Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who set his Holy Spirit among them, 12 who sent his glorious arm of power to be at Moses' right hand, who divided the waters before them to gain for himself an everlasting name, 13 who led them through the depths? Like a horse in open country, they did not stumble; 14 like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest.
