  • Acts 11:27-30 : 27 During this time, some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and, through the Spirit, predicted that a severe famine would spread across the entire world. • 2 Cor 8:1-9 : 1 Now we want you to know, brothers and sisters, about the grace of God that has been given to the churches of Macedonia. 2 In the midst of a severe trial brought by affliction, their overflowing joy and their deep poverty overflowed into abundant generosity. 3 For I testify that they gave according to their ability, and even beyond their ability, entirely on their own. 4 They urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. 5 And they exceeded our expectations: they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. 6 So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier begun, to complete this act of grace among you as well. 7 But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in the love we inspired in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 8 I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that through His poverty you might become rich.
