    11As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

    12Elisha saw this and cried out, 'My father, my father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!' And he saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.

    13Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

    14He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. 'Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?' he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over.

    15The company of the prophets from Jericho saw him from a distance and said, 'The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.' And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

    16They said to him, 'Look, we have fifty able men among your servants. Let them go and search for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has picked him up and set him down on some mountain or in some valley.' But Elisha replied, 'Do not send them.'

    13When the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the Lord of all the earth—rest in the waters of the Jordan, the water flowing down from upstream will be cut off and will stand in a heap.

    14So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them.

    15Now as the priests who carried the ark came to the Jordan, and their feet touched the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the harvest season),
