Absalom went to the king and said, 'Your servant has shearers. Will the king and his attendants please join me?'

The king replied, 'No, my son. All of us should not go; we would only be a burden to you.' Although Absalom urged him, he refused to go, but he gave him his blessing.

Now, my lord the king, don’t take to heart the report that says all the king’s sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead.

Meanwhile, Absalom fled. Now the watchman looked up and saw a large crowd coming down the hill on the road behind him.

Jonadab said to the king, 'Look, the king’s sons have come. It has happened just as your servant said.’
