7 They answered again, saying, "Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will reveal its interpretation."
8 The king responded, "I am certain that you are trying to gain time because you see that my command is firm.
9 If you do not make the dream known to me, there is only one decree for you. You have agreed to speak false and corrupt words before me until the situation changes. Therefore, tell me the dream, so that I may know that you can reveal its interpretation."
10 The Chaldeans answered the king, saying, "There is no man on earth who can declare the king's matter. No great and powerful king has ever asked such a thing from any magician, enchanter, or Chaldean.
7 The king called out loudly to bring in the enchanters, Chaldeans, and diviners. He declared to the wise men of Babylon, 'Whoever reads the writing and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain placed around their neck, and be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.'
8 Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.
36 This was the dream, and we will now tell the king its interpretation.
24 Therefore, Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said to him, "Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon; bring me before the king, and I will reveal the interpretation to the king."
25 Then Arioch hurriedly brought Daniel before the king and said to him, "I have found a man from among the exiles of Judah who will reveal the interpretation to the king."
26 The king said to Daniel, who was also called Belteshazzar, "Are you able to make known to me the dream which I saw and its interpretation?"
27 Daniel answered the king, saying, "The mystery which the king asks about cannot be revealed by wise men, enchanters, magicians, or diviners.
28 However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the latter days. Your dream and the visions in your mind as you lay on your bed are as follows.
29 As for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind while on your bed about what would happen in the future, and He who reveals mysteries has made known to you what is to come.
30 But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me because of any wisdom that I have more than anyone else, but so that the interpretation may be made known to the king and that you may understand the thoughts of your heart.
24 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you: Break off your sins by pursuing righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the oppressed. Perhaps there will be a lengthening of your prosperity.
16 So Daniel went in and requested the king to give him time, so that he might reveal the interpretation to the king.
17 To these four young men, God gave knowledge and understanding in all kinds of literature and wisdom. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
12 Because of this, the king became angry and extremely furious, and he commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed.
13 The decree was issued, and the wise men were being put to death. They also sought Daniel and his companions to execute them.
