    13Gideon, son of Joash, returned from the battle by the Ascent of Heres.

    14He captured a young man from Succoth and questioned him, and the young man wrote down for him the names of the leaders of Succoth and its elders—seventy-seven men.

    15Then Gideon went to the men of Succoth and said, 'Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me, saying, “Are Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hands, that we should give bread to your exhausted men?”'

    16He then took the elders of the city, along with thorns and briers from the wilderness, and used them to teach the men of Succoth a lesson.
