And now, here I am today, eighty-five years old. 11 I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength now is just as it was then, whether for battle or for going out and coming in. 12 So now give me this hill country the LORD promised me on that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakim are there and their cities are large and fortified. Perhaps the LORD will be with me, and I will drive them out as the LORD said. 13 Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance. 14 So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as his inheritance to this day because he wholeheartedly followed the LORD, the God of Israel. 15 Previously, Hebron had been called Kiriath Arba, named after Arba, the greatest man among the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.

At his command they will go out, and at his command they will come in, both he and all the Israelites with him, the entire assembly. 22 Moses did as the LORD commanded. He took Joshua, set him before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly, 23 laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as the LORD directed through Moses.
  • Deut 31:7-9 : 7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel: 'Be strong and courageous, for you will bring this people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors to give them, and you shall divide it among them as their inheritance.' 8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. 9 So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 Then Moses commanded them, saying, 'At the end of every seven years, in the appointed time of the year of release, during the Festival of Tabernacles, 11 when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.' 12 Assemble the people—men, women, children, and the foreigners residing in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully follow all the words of this law. 13 And their children, who do not know it yet, will hear it and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. 14 The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, the time of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the tent of meeting so that I may commission him.' So Moses and Joshua went and stood at the tent of meeting. 15 Then the LORD appeared at the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the tent. 16 The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, you are going to rest with your ancestors, and this people will rise up and prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.' 17 On that day, my anger will burn against them, and I will abandon them and hide my face from them, and they will be consumed. Many disasters and calamities will come upon them, and on that day they will say, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?'
  • Luke 1:10-15 : 10 At the time of the incense offering, the whole assembly of the people was praying outside. 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to name him John. 14 You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.
  • Josh 15:13-19 : 13 To Caleb son of Jephunneh, he was given a portion among the descendants of Judah, based on the Lord’s command to Joshua, the city of Arba (father of Anak), which is Hebron. 14 Caleb expelled from there the three descendants of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the offspring of Anak. 15 From there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir, which was formerly called Kiriath-sepher. 16 Caleb said, 'Whoever attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him my daughter Achsah as his wife.' 17 Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, captured it, so Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as his wife. 18 When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. As she dismounted from her donkey, Caleb asked her, 'What do you want?' 19 She replied, 'Give me a blessing. Since you have given me land in the Negev, grant me also springs of water.' So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

She got down from her donkey, and Caleb asked her, "What do you want?" 15 She answered him, "Give me a blessing, since you have given me land in the Negev, now give me springs of water as well." So Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
