  • Judg 6:6-9 : 6 So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help. 7 When the Israelites cried out to the Lord because of Midian, 8 the Lord sent a prophet to the Israelites, who said to them, 'This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt and out of the house of slavery. 9 I delivered you from the hand of Egypt and from the hand of all your oppressors. I drove them out before you and gave you their land. 10 And I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; do not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live.’ But you did not listen to my voice.
  • Judg 10:10-16 : 10 Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, 'We have sinned against You, for we have abandoned our God and served the Baals.' 11 The LORD said to the Israelites, 'Did I not rescue you from Egypt, the Amorites, the Ammonites, and the Philistines? 12 'And when the Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to Me, I rescued you from their hands.' 13 'But you have forsaken Me and served other gods. Therefore, I will no longer rescue you.' 14 'Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble!' 15 The Israelites said to the LORD, 'We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to You, but please save us today.' 16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
  • 1 Sam 7:8-9 : 8 The Israelites said to Samuel, 'Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, so that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.' 9 Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and sacrificed it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. He cried out to the LORD on behalf of Israel, and the LORD answered him. 10 While Samuel was offering the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to fight against Israel. But on that day, the LORD thundered with a mighty sound against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were defeated before Israel. 11 The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, striking them down all the way to a point below Beth-car. 12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, naming it Ebenezer, saying, 'Thus far, the LORD has helped us.'
  • 2 Kgs 14:26-27 : 26 For the LORD saw how bitter the suffering of Israel was; there was no one to help, neither slave nor free. 27 But the LORD had not said He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Joash.
  • Neh 9:27-37 : 27 So You handed them over to their enemies, who oppressed them. But in their time of distress, they cried out to You, and You heard from heaven. In Your great mercy, You gave them deliverers, who rescued them from the hand of their enemies. 28 But as soon as they had rest, they returned to doing evil in Your sight. So You abandoned them to their enemies, who ruled over them. Yet when they again cried out to You, You heard from heaven and rescued them many times in Your abundant mercy. 29 You warned them to return to Your law, but they acted arrogantly and did not obey Your commandments. They sinned against Your judgments, which, if a person does, they will live by them. Stubbornly, they turned their backs, stiffened their necks, and would not listen. 30 For many years, You were patient with them. You warned them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, yet they would not listen. So You gave them into the hands of the peoples of the lands. 31 Still, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly destroy them or abandon them, for You are a gracious and merciful God. 32 Now therefore, our God, the great, mighty, and awesome God who keeps His covenant and steadfast love, do not let the hardship that has come upon us—on our kings, leaders, priests, prophets, ancestors, and on all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until today—seem insignificant to You. 33 You are righteous in all that has happened to us, because You have acted faithfully while we have acted wickedly. 34 Our kings, leaders, priests, and ancestors did not obey Your law or pay attention to Your commandments and warnings You gave them. 35 Even while they were in their kingdom, enjoying Your abundant goodness and the spacious, fertile land You gave them, they did not serve You or turn from their evil deeds. 36 Here we are today, slaves in the land You gave to our ancestors so they could enjoy its fruit and its goodness—here we are, slaves in it! 37 Its abundant harvest goes to the kings You have set over us because of our sins. They rule over our bodies and our livestock as they please, and we are in great distress.
  • Judg 2:18 : 18 Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them from the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived. For the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed and afflicted them.
