  • 2 John 1:1- : 1 The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who have known the truth. 2 For the sake of the truth, which dwells in us and will be with us forever. 3 Grace, mercy, and peace be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found your children walking in truth, as we received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I urge you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we have worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him. 11 For he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. 12 Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 13 The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen. 1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers; 6 They have borne witness of your charity before the church: whom if you bring forward on their journey in a godly manner, you will do well: 7 Because for His name's sake they went forth, taking nothing from the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow helpers of the truth. 9 I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids those who would, and casts them out of the church. 11 Beloved, do not follow what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God: but he who does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius has received a good report from all men, and of the truth itself: yes, and we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true. 13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write to you: 14 But I trust I shall shortly see you, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
