31 And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
1 Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight:
2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people who are with him will flee, and I will strike the king only:

35 And do you not have there with you Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you hear out of the king's house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
15 And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
19 And again, whom should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, so will I be in your presence.
20 And when Absalom's servants came to the woman at the house, they said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They have gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 And it came to pass, after they departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told King David, and said to David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus has Ahithophel counseled against you.

2 And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate, and it was so, that when any man who had a controversy came to the king for judgment, Absalom called to him, and said, Of what city are you? And he said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
3 And Absalom said to him, See, your matters are good and right; but there is no man appointed by the king to hear you.
4 Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would grant him justice!
17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?
23 And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and went home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in his father's sepulchre.
24 Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

29 And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got on his mule and fled.
31 Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom at his house, and said to him, Why have your servants set my field on fire?
32 And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, Why did I come from Geshur? it would have been better for me to still be there: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there is any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
6 And Absalom did this to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7 And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said to the king, I pray you, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the LORD, in Hebron.
15 And the king's servants said to the king, Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king shall appoint.
4 And the king said to them, What seems best to you I will do. And the king stood by the side of the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands.
5 And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains orders concerning Absalom.
33 And Ahithophel was the king's counselor; and Hushai the Archite was the king's companion;
9 and he said to them, What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which your father put upon us lighter?
18 She continued, In former times, they used to say, Let them ask counsel at Abel; and so they resolved disputes.
10 And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you not speak a word of bringing the king back?
30 And the king said to him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.
4 But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!
