And he came to King Solomon and did all his work. 15 For he cast two pillars of bronze, each eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits encircled each pillar. 16 And he made two capitals of molten bronze to set upon the tops of the pillars; the height of one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits. 17 And nets of checker work and wreaths of chain work for the capitals upon the top of the pillars; seven for one capital and seven for the other capital. 18 And he made the pillars and two rows around on one network, to cover the capitals that were upon the top, with pomegranates; and so he did for the other capital. 19 And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits. 20 And the capitals upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, opposite the bulge by the network; and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows around the other capital. 21 And he set up the pillars at the porch of the temple, and he set up the right pillar and called its name Jachin, and he set up the left pillar and called its name Boaz. 22 And upon the top of the pillars was lily work; thus the work of the pillars was finished. 23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from one rim to the other; it was round all about, and its height was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits encircled it. 24 And under the brim around it were knobs encircling it, ten in a cubit, encircling the sea all around; the knobs were cast in two rows when it was cast. 25 It stood upon twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the sea was set upon them, and all their hind parts were inward. 26 And it was a handbreadth thick, and its brim was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; it contained two thousand baths. 27 And he made ten bases of bronze; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits its width, and three cubits its height. 28 And the workmanship of the bases was as follows: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges. 29 And on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and upon the ledges there was a base above, and beneath the lions and oxen were additions of thin work. 30 And each base had four bronze wheels and plates of bronze, and the four corners had supports; the supports were molten beneath the lavers, at the side of each addition. 31 And the opening in the top of the base was within the capital and above one cubit; but the mouth was round after the shape of the base, a cubit and a half; and there were engravings with their borders, square, not round. 32 And the four wheels were underneath the borders, and the axles of the wheels were joined to the base; and the height of a wheel was a cubit and a half. 33 And the workmanship of the wheels was like the workmanship of a chariot wheel; their axles, their rims, their spokes, and their hubs were all cast. 34 And there were four supports at the four corners of each base; the supports themselves were part of the base. 35 And on the top of the base was a circular piece half a cubit high; and on the top of the base, its ledges and its borders were part of it. 36 On the plates of its ledges and on its borders, he engraved cherubim, lions, and palm trees, according to the open space on each, with wreaths all around. 37 Thus he made the ten bases; all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size. 38 Then he made ten bronze lavers; each laver held forty baths, each laver was four cubits; on each of the ten bases, one laver. 39 And he put five bases on the right side of the house and five on the left side of the house; and he set the sea on the right side of the house, eastward, toward the south. 40 And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basins. So Hiram finished doing all the work he did for King Solomon for the house of the LORD: 41 The two pillars, and the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the two pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars; 42 And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were upon the pillars; 43 The ten bases and ten lavers on the bases; 44 The one sea and twelve oxen under the sea; 45 And the pots, the shovels, and the basins. All these vessels, which Hiram made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD, were of polished bronze. 46 In the plain of the Jordan, the king cast them, in clay ground between Succoth and Zarethan. 47 And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed because they were exceedingly many; neither was the weight of the bronze ascertained. 48 And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained to the house of the LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, upon which was the showbread, 49 And the lampstands of pure gold, five on the right side and five on the left, in front of the inner sanctuary, with the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs of gold, 50 And the bowls, the snuffers, the basins, the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the Most Holy Place, and for the doors of the house, that is, of the temple. 51 Thus was completed all the work that King Solomon made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated: the silver, the gold, and the vessels, and he put them among the treasures of the house of the LORD.
• 1 Kgs 5:1-6:2 : 1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father, for Hiram had always loved David. 2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, 3 You know how David my father could not build a house for the name of the LORD his God because of the wars that surrounded him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet. 4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence. 5 And behold, I plan to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to David my father, saying, Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he shall build a house for my name. 6 Now therefore command that they cut me cedar trees from Lebanon, and my servants will be with your servants, and I will give you hire for your servants according to all that you designate, for you know that there is none among us who can skillfully cut timber like the Sidonians. 7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be the LORD today, who has given David a wise son over this great people. 8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things you sent to me for, and I will do all your desire concerning cedar and fir timber. 9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the sea; I will convey them by sea in floats to the place you appoint, and will have them unloaded there, and you shall receive them, and you shall fulfill my desire by providing food for my household. 10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire. 11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food for his household, and twenty measures of pure oil; this was given by Solomon to Hiram year by year. 12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He promised, and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two made a covenant together. 13 And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel, and the levy was thirty thousand men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month in shifts; they were a month in Lebanon and two months at home, and Adoniram was in charge of the levy. 15 And Solomon had seventy thousand who carried burdens and eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountains, 16 besides the chief officers of Solomon who were over the work, three thousand three hundred who ruled over the people who worked in the construction. 17 And the king commanded, and they quarried great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. 18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the stonecutters quarried them; so they prepared timber and stones to build the house. 1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD. 2 And the house which King Solomon built for the LORD, its length was sixty cubits, and its width twenty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
