5And David said, Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and glory throughout all nations: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
6Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.

2Then King David stood up on his feet, and said, Hear me, my brothers, and my people: As for me, I had in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations for the building:
3But God said to me, You shall not build a house for my name, because you have been a man of war, and have shed blood.
4And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who has with his hands fulfilled what he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying,
5Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
6But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

26And let your name be magnified forever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of your servant David be established before you.
27For you, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, I will build you a house: therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.
1Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
2And David commanded to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to cut hewn stones to build the house of God.
16For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

18But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house which I have built!

10Take heed now; for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
12As for this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and execute my judgments and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will fulfill my word with you, which I spoke to David your father:
7And he set up the carved image of the Asherah he had made, in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, 'In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever:'
13I have surely built you a house to dwell in, a settled place for you to abide in forever.
