for the locust shall consume it. 39 You shall plant vineyards, and dress them, but shall neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. 40 You shall have olive trees throughout all your coasts, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olive shall cast its fruit. 41 You shall beget sons and daughters, but you shall not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. 42 All your trees and fruit of your land shall the locust consume. 43 The foreigner that is within you shall rise up above you very high; and you shall come down very low. 44 He shall lend to you, and you shall not lend to him: he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you, and shall pursue you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed; because you did not listen to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you: 46 And they shall be upon you for a sign and for a wonder, and upon your descendants forever. 47 Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; 48 Therefore you shall serve your enemies which the LORD shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until he has destroyed you. 49 The LORD shall bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you shall not understand; 50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young: 51 And he shall eat the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your land, until you are destroyed: which also shall not leave you either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of your kine, or flocks of your sheep, until he has destroyed you. 52 And he shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land: and he shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you. 53 And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and your daughters, which the LORD your God has given you, in the siege, and in the distress, with which your enemies shall distress you: 54 So that the man who is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: 55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the distress, with which your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. 56 The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, 57 And toward her young one that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children who she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and distress, with which your enemy shall distress you in your gates. 58 If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD YOUR GOD; 59 Then the LORD will make your plagues wonderful, and the plagues of your seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and severe sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60 Moreover He will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cling to you. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon you, until you are destroyed. 62 And you shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God. 63 And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nothing; • Gen 28:13-15 : 13 And behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: the land where you lie, I will give to you and to your descendants; 14 And your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 And behold, I am with you, and will keep you in all places wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you, until I have done what I have spoken to you of.
• Gen 46:3 : 3 And He said, I am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down into Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.
• Gen 48:19 : 19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.
• Gen 49:1-9 : 1 And Jacob called to his sons and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in the last days. 2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, you sons of Jacob, and listen to Israel your father. 3 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it: he went up to my couch. 5 Simeon and Levi are brothers; instruments of cruelty are in their dwellings. 6 O my soul, do not come into their secret; to their assembly, my honor, do not be united: for in their anger they killed a man, and in their self-will they tore down a wall. 7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel. 8 Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise: your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father's children shall bow down before you. 9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, you have gone up: he stooped down, he crouched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his foal to the vine, and his donkey's colt to the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes. 12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk. 13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be a haven for ships; and his border shall be to Zidon. 14 Issachar is a strong donkey lying down between two burdens. 15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant to tribute. 16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. 17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, a viper in the path, that bites the horse's heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. 18 I have waited for your salvation, O LORD. 19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him, but he shall overcome at the last. 20 Out of Asher his bread shall be rich, and he shall yield royal delicacies. 21 Naphtali is a deer let loose: he gives goodly words. 22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall. 23 The archers have severely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him. 24 But his bow remained in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel.) 25 By the God of your father, who shall help you; and by the Almighty, who shall bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb. 26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my ancestors to the utmost bounds of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers. 27 Benjamin shall ravage as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil. 28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
• Lev 26:1-9 : 1 You shall make no idols nor carved image, neither set up a standing image, nor shall you set up any image of stone in your land to bow down to it: for I am the LORD your God. 2 You shall keep my Sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD. 3 If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments and do them; 4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. 6 And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. 7 And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8 And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 9 For I will have respect for you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. 10 And you shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new. 11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people. 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you stand upright. 14 But if you will not listen to me, and will not do all these commandments; 15 And if you shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhors my judgments, so that you will not do all my commandments, but that you break my covenant: 16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning fever, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 And I will set my face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: those that hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursues you. 18 And if you will not yet for all this listen to me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as bronze: 20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. 21 And if you walk contrary to me, and will not listen to me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. 22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate. 23 And if you will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary to me; 24 Then will I also walk contrary to you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. 25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when you are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. 26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and you shall eat, and not be satisfied. 27 And if you will not for all this listen to me, but walk contrary to me; 28 Then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. 29 And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat. 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. 31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet aromas. 32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it. 33 And I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. 34 Then shall the land enjoy its Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate, and you are in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy its Sabbaths. 35 As long as it lies desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when you dwelt upon it. 36 And upon those who are left alive of you I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one flees from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursues. 37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursues: and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. 38 And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. 39 And those who are left of you shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them. 40 If they shall confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me; 41 And that I also have walked contrary to them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity: 42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. 43 The land also shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them: and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. 44 And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God. 45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD. 46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between Him and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
• Deut 4:25-31 : 25 When you beget children, and children's children, and have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a carved image, or the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD your God, to provoke him to anger: 26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land where you go over Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. 27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the heathen, where the LORD shall lead you. 28 And there you shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God, and be obedient to his voice; 31 (For the LORD your God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.

• Ezra 1:2 : 2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
• Ezra 8:22 : 22 For I was ashamed to request from the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek him; but his power and his wrath are against all who forsake him.
• Ps 18:31 : 31 For who is God except the LORD? or who is a rock except our God?
• Prov 3:25-26 : 25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes. 26 For the LORD shall be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.
• Isa 30:29 : 29 You shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goes with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the Mighty One of Israel.
• Isa 41:10-14 : 10 Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and those who strive with you shall perish. 12 You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even those who contended with you: those who war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, Fear not; I will help you. 14 Fear not, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel; I will help you, says the LORD, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
