28 However, the king of the children of Ammon did not listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.
29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he advanced towards the children of Ammon.
30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If you will indeed deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,
31 Then it shall be, that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
32 So Jephthah advanced towards the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not act according to all the things for which the LORD your God shall send you to us.
1 And the men of Ephraim gathered together, and went northward, and said to Jephthah, Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house over you with fire.

4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it happened, that when those Ephraimites who had escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said to him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said, No;
14 And Jephthah sent messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon:
15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
27 But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before Him with our burnt offerings, with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, You have no part in the LORD.
28 Therefore we said that it shall be, when they should say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you.
28 And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with you: and we said, Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you;
7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
17 And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this your oath which you have made us swear.
11 Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, We are your servants: therefore now make a treaty with us.
22 And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
32 And it shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good the LORD shall do to us, the same we will do to you.
34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.

19 But all the leaders said to all the congregation, We have sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.
20 This we will do to them; we will let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath we swore to them.
31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD has said to your servants, so will we do.
1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabesh-gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."
27 And Joshua said to all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness to us; for it has heard all the words of the LORD which he spoke to us: it shall therefore be a witness to you, lest you deny your God.
10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you."

10 But if they say, 'Come up to us,' then we will go up, for the LORD has delivered them into our hand; and this will be a sign to us."
28 Gather to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.
20 And if you reveal this our business, then we will be released from your oath which you have made us swear.
40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.
5 And he said to them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

12 Then they said, We will restore them, and will require nothing from them; we will do as you say. Then I called the priests and required an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.
