Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, We are your servants: therefore now make a treaty with us.

16And it happened at the end of three days after they had made a treaty with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors, and that they lived among them.
24And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told to your servants how the LORD your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were very afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.
25And now, see, we are in your hand: do to us as it seems good and right to you to do.
19And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which you saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.

17For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
18And the LORD drove out from before us all the people, even the Amorites who lived in the land: therefore we will also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
9Only do not rebel against the LORD, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
26And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
7Turn, and take your journey, and go to the mountain of the Amorites, and to all the places near there, in the plain, in the hills, and in the valley, and in the south, and by the sea, to the land of the Canaanites, and to Lebanon, to the great river, the river Euphrates.
8And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, Therefore we return to you now, that you may go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
7But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities, we took as plunder for ourselves.
9If they say to us, 'Wait until we come to you,' then we will stand still in our place and not go up to them.

6And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
11And the LORD said to me, Arise, take your journey ahead of the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give to them.

22Let me pass through your land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's highway, until we have passed your borders.
9Therefore, keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
11See, how they repay us, to come to cast us out of Your possession, which You have given us to inherit.
28And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with you: and we said, Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you;
14And you answered me and said, The thing which you have spoken is good for us to do.
15You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promised them that they would go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them.
