7Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none helped her: the adversaries saw her and mocked at her sabbaths.
8Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yes, she sighs, and turns backward.
9Her filthiness is in her skirts; she does not remember her last end; therefore she came down astonishingly: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy has magnified himself.
10The adversary has spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she has seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom you commanded that they should not enter into your congregation.
31For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, and the anguish as of her that brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
4The ways of Zion mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
5Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD has afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children have gone into captivity before the enemy.
7Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
8The Lord has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: He has stretched out a line, He has not withdrawn His hand from destroying: therefore He made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.
9And it shall happen in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
14Also the sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet, and they shall call you, The City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
19For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, 'How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.'
7At that time shall the present be brought to the LORD of hosts from a people scattered and polished, and from a people feared from their beginning until now; a nation divided and trampled under foot, whose land the rivers have ravaged, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, Mount Zion.
2I have likened the daughter of Zion to a lovely and delicate woman.
3The shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her all around; they shall feed everyone in his place.
4Prepare war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us, for the day goes away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
2Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling for all the people around about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3And in that day I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
2And many nations shall come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
1O God, the heathen have entered into Your inheritance; Your holy temple they have defiled; they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
15All who pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and shake their heads at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
16All your enemies have opened their mouth against you: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly, this is the day we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.
10Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
8And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, Why has the LORD done thus to this great city?
19Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of those who dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? Is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images and strange idols?
11The LORD has accomplished his fury; he has poured out his fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Zion, and it has devoured her foundations.
12But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, nor do they understand His counsel; for He shall gather them as sheaves into the threshing floor.
13Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs bronze, and you shall beat in pieces many people, and I will consecrate their gain to the LORD, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.
23They shall hold the bow and spear; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against you, O daughter of Zion.
32What will one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of his people will trust in it.
4When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and has purged the blood of Jerusalem from its midst by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning.
10Then she who is my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said to me, Where is the LORD your God? My eyes shall behold her; now she shall be trampled down as the mire of the streets.
22This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
11In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered his gates, and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were as one of them.
10The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground, and keep silence: they have thrown dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
16Moreover the LORD says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, making a tinkling with their feet:
8Your watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall restore Zion.
40They shall also bring up an assembly against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords.
14O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?
8It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he eats; but he awakes, and his soul is empty; or as when a thirsty man dreams, and behold, he drinks; but he awakes, and behold, he is faint, and his soul has appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.
