11And our adversaries said, They shall not know or see anything until we come in among them and kill them, and cause the work to cease.
13Therefore I set men in the lowest parts behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people according to their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
16Indeed, I also devoted myself to the work on this wall and did not buy any land. All my servants were gathered there for the work.
4Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

17Then I said to them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.
18Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me, and also the king's words that he had spoken to me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
5Then the leaders of the fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin arose, and the priests, and the Levites, with all those whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
6And all those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, with beasts, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.
38The other company of those who gave thanks went opposite them, and I after them, and half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the Tower of the Furnaces even to the Broad Wall;

6To carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and cut stone to repair the house.
16And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they realized that this work was done by our God.
3At the same time, Tatnai, governor on this side of the river, and Shetharboznai, and their companions, came to them and said, Who has commanded you to build this house and to finish this wall?
4Then we said to them in this manner, What are the names of the men who are building this building?
15Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance, stone cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of skillful men for every kind of work.
1But it happened that when Sanballat heard we were building the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish that are burned?

8Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is being built with great stones, and timber is being laid in the walls, and this work is going on rapidly and prospers in their hands.
9Then we asked those elders and said to them, Who commanded you to build this house and to finish these walls?

7Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.
4Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land, says the LORD, and work: for I am with you, says the LORD of hosts.
9Thus says the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
4Next to them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next to them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next to them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.
9The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
