    1Samuel said to all Israel,“I have done everything you requested. I have given you a king.

    2Now look! This king walks before you. As for me, I am old and gray, though my sons are here with you. I have walked before you from the time of my youth till the present day.

    10Then the LORD came and stood nearby, calling as he had previously done,“Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel replied,“Speak, for your servant is listening!”

    11The LORD said to Samuel,“Look! I am about to do something in Israel; when anyone hears about it, both of his ears will tingle.

  • 24However, fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Just look at the great things he has done for you!

    17Now, O LORD God of Israel, may the promise you made to your servant David be realized.

  • 15He said:“Pay attention, all you people of Judah, residents of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says to you:‘Don’t be afraid and don’t panic because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

  • 22Do any of the worthless idols of the nations cause rain to fall? Do the skies themselves send showers? Is it not you, O Lord our God, who does this? So we put our hopes in you because you alone do all this.”

  • 8Come! Witness the exploits of the LORD, who brings devastation to the earth!

  • 21For the sake of your promise and according to your purpose you have done this great thing in order to reveal it to your servant.

  • 13Now, if you pay close attention to my commandments that I am giving you today and love the LORD your God and serve him with all your mind and being,

  • 11The LORD said,“Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD. Look, the LORD is ready to pass by.”A very powerful wind went before the LORD, digging into the mountain and causing landslides, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the windstorm there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
