13Then David exclaimed to Nathan,“I have sinned against the LORD!” Nathan replied to David,“Yes, and the LORD has forgiven your sin. You are not going to die.
37I will select you; you will rule over all you desire to have and you will be king over Israel.
38You must obey all I command you to do, follow my instructions, do what I approve, and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David; I will give you Israel.
8I tore the kingdom away from the Davidic dynasty and gave it to you. But you are not like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me wholeheartedly by doing only what I approve.
16Your house and your kingdom will stand before me permanently; your dynasty will be permanent.’”

13Furthermore, I am giving you what you did not request– riches and honor so that you will be the greatest king of your generation.
24You have kept your word to your servant, my father David; this very day you have fulfilled what you promised.
21For the sake of your promise and according to your purpose you have done this great thing in order to reveal it to your servant.
16He told David,‘Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. But I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’
2In the past, even when Saul was king, you were Israel’s commanding general. The LORD your God said to you,‘You will shepherd my people Israel; you will rule over my people Israel.’”
12However, for your father David’s sake I will not do this while you are alive. I will tear it away from your son’s hand instead.
20The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have taken my father David’s place and have occupied the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built this temple for the honor of the LORD God of Israel
18The LORD told my father David,‘It is right for you to have a strong desire to build a temple to honor me.
8But this was the LORD’S message to me:‘You have spilled a great deal of blood and fought many battles. You must not build a temple to honor me, for you have spilled a great deal of blood on the ground before me.
10namely, to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and to establish the throne of David over Israel and over Judah all the way from Dan to Beer Sheba!”
12“As for this temple you are building, if you follow my rules, observe my regulations, and obey all my commandments, I will fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David.
24Nathan said,“My master, O king, did you announce,‘Adonijah will be king after me; he will sit on my throne’?

2Nathan said to David,“You should do whatever you have in mind, for God is with you.”
8The LORD told my father David,‘It is right for you to have a strong desire to build a temple to honor me.
11I granted you a king in my anger, and I will take him away in my wrath!
27Has my master the king authorized this without informing your servants who should succeed my master the king on his throne?”
35I will take the kingdom from the hand of his son and give ten tribes to you.
