- Num 8:1-9 : 1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Speak to Aaron, and say to him, When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand. 3 And Aaron did so; he lit the lamps in front of the lampstand, as the LORD commanded Moses. 4 And this work of the lampstand was of hammered gold, from its shaft to its flowers, it was hammered work: according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand. 5 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and cleanse them. 7 And thus shall you do to them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purification upon them, let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and make themselves clean. 8 Then let them take a young bull with its grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil, and another young bull you shall take for a sin offering. 9 And you shall bring the Levites before the tabernacle of meeting, and gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together. 10 And you shall bring the Levites before the LORD, and the children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites. 11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the children of Israel, that they may perform the service of the LORD. 12 The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the young bulls, and you shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. 13 And you shall set the Levites before Aaron and his sons and offer them as a wave offering to the LORD. 14 Thus shall you separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine. 15 After that, the Levites shall go in to perform the service of the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall cleanse them and offer them as a wave offering. 16 For they are wholly given to me among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them for myself. 17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them to myself. 18 And I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel. 19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to perform the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when they come near the sanctuary. 20 Thus Moses, Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel did to the Levites; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them. 21 The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 After that, the Levites went in to perform their service in the tabernacle of meeting before Aaron and his sons; as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them. 23 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 This is what regards the Levites: from twenty-five years old and above, they shall go in to perform the work in the tabernacle of meeting. 25 And at the age of fifty years, they shall cease performing this work and shall serve no more. 26 But they may minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of meeting, to attend to needs, but shall do no work. Thus shall you do to the Levites regarding their duties.
- Num 16:9-9 : 9 Does it seem like a small thing to you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them? 10 And He has brought you near to Him, and all your brethren the sons of Levi with you: and do you seek the priesthood also?
- Num 18:1-9 : 1 And the LORD said to Aaron, You and your sons and your father's house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. 2 And your brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring with you, that they may be joined to you and minister to you: but you and your sons with you shall minister before the tabernacle of witness. 3 And they shall keep your charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor you also, die. 4 And they shall be joined to you, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come near you. 5 And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel. 6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel; to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 7 Therefore you and your sons with you shall keep your priest's office for everything of the altar, and within the veil; and you shall serve: I have given your priest's office to you as a service of gift: and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death. 8 And the LORD spoke to Aaron, Behold, I also have given you the charge of my heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; to you have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to your sons, by an ordinance forever. 9 This shall be yours of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, every grain offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons. 10 In the most holy place you shall eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy to you. 11 And this is yours; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, by a statute forever: everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it. 12 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer to the LORD, them have I given you. 13 And whatever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring to the LORD, shall be yours; everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it. 14 Everything devoted in Israel shall be yours. 15 Everything that opens the womb in all flesh, which they bring to the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be yours: nevertheless the firstborn of man you shall surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts you shall redeem. 16 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old you shall redeem, according to your estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs. 17 But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, you shall not redeem; they are holy: you shall sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet aroma to the LORD. 18 And the flesh of them shall be yours, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are yours. 19 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to the LORD, have I given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, by a statute forever: it is a covenant of salt forever before the LORD to you and to your seed with you. 20 And the LORD spoke to Aaron, You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any part among them: I am your part and your inheritance among the children of Israel. 21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come near the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. 23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. 24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave offering to the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said to them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. 25 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 26 Thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. 27 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the corn of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress. 28 Thus you also shall offer a heave offering to the LORD of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and you shall give thereof the LORD'S heave offering to Aaron the priest. 29 Out of all your gifts you shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it. 30 Therefore you shall say to them, When you have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress. 31 And you shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation. 32 And you shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall you pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest you die.

- Num 1:47-53 : 47 But the Levites, by their fathers' tribe, were not numbered among them. 48 For the LORD had spoken to Moses, saying, 49 Only you shall not number the tribe of Levi, nor take a census of them among the children of Israel; 50 But you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all things that belong to it: they shall carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp around the tabernacle. 51 And when the tabernacle is set out, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up: and the outsider who comes near shall be put to death. 52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their armies. 53 But the Levites shall encamp around the tabernacle of testimony, so that no wrath may come upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
- Num 3:1-4 : 1 These are also the generations of Aaron and Moses when the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai. 2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed, whom he consecrated to serve in the priest's office. 4 But Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children: so Eleazar and Ithamar served in the priest's office in the presence of Aaron their father.
- Exod 29:1-9 : 1 And this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them, to minister to me in the priest's office: Take one young bull, and two rams without blemish, 2 And unleavened bread, and cakes of unleavened bread mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil: of wheat flour you shall make them. 3 And you shall put them into one basket, and bring them in the basket, with the bull and the two rams. 4 And you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and wash them with water. 5 And you shall take the garments, and put on Aaron the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the skillfully woven belt of the ephod. 6 And you shall put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. 7 Then you shall take the anointing oil, and pour it on his head, and anoint him. 8 And you shall bring his sons and put tunics on them. 9 And you shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put hats on them: and the priest's office shall be theirs by a perpetual statute: thus you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons. 10 And you shall bring the bull before the tabernacle of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the bull. 11 And you shall kill the bull before the LORD, by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 12 And you shall take some of the blood of the bull, and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour all the blood beside the base of the altar. 13 And you shall take all the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached to the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar. 14 But the flesh of the bull, with its skin and its offal, you shall burn with fire outside the camp: it is a sin offering. 15 You shall also take one ram, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram. 16 And you shall kill the ram, and you shall take its blood and sprinkle it all around on the altar. 17 And you shall cut the ram in pieces, wash its entrails and its legs, and put them with its pieces and with its head. 18 And you shall burn the whole ram on the altar: it is a burnt offering to the LORD, it is a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD. 19 You shall also take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram. 20 Then you shall kill the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron, on the tip of the right ear of his sons, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. 21 And you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar, and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron, on his garments, on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him: and he and his garments shall be hallowed, and his sons and his sons' garments with him. 22 Also you shall take the fat of the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached to the liver, the two kidneys and the fat on them, and the right thigh: for it is a ram of consecration, 23 And one loaf of bread, one cake made with oil, and one wafer from the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the LORD, 24 And you shall put all these in the hands of Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and you shall wave them as a wave offering before the LORD. 25 You shall receive them back from their hands and burn them on the altar as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma before the LORD. It is an offering made by fire to the LORD. 26 Then you shall take the breast of the ram of Aaron's consecration and wave it as a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be your portion. 27 And you shall consecrate the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering, which is waved and raised, of the ram of the consecration, from what was for Aaron and what was for his sons. 28 It shall be from the children of Israel for Aaron and his sons by a statute forever. For it is a heave offering; and it shall be a heave offering from the children of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, their heave offerings to the LORD. 29 And the holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him, to be anointed in them and consecrated in them. 30 That son who becomes priest in his place shall put them on for seven days, when he enters the tabernacle of meeting to minister in the holy place. 31 And you shall take the ram of the consecration and boil its flesh in the holy place. 32 Then Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 33 They shall eat those things with which the atonement was made, to consecrate and sanctify them; but a stranger shall not eat them, because they are holy. 34 And if any of the flesh of the consecrations or of the bread remains until the morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire. It shall not be eaten, because it is holy. 35 Thus you shall do for Aaron and his sons, according to all that I have commanded you. For seven days you shall consecrate them. 36 And you shall offer every day a bull as a sin offering for atonement. You shall cleanse the altar when you make atonement for it, and you shall anoint it to sanctify it. 37 Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and sanctify it, and the altar shall be most holy. Whatever touches the altar must be holy.
