  • 1 Chr 29:1-9 : 1 Furthermore, King David said to all the assembly, Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. 2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the bronze for things of bronze, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistening stones, and of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3 Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have given of my own proper goods, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4 Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses. 5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of craftsmen. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day to the LORD? 6 Then the chief of the fathers, and leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly. 7 And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, for with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and King David also rejoiced with great joy. 10 Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly: and David said, Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel our Father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all; in Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great, and to give strength to all. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, and of Your own have we given You. 15 For we are strangers before You, and sojourners, as were all our fathers; our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding. 16 O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own. 17 I know also, my God, that You test the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now I have seen with joy Your people, who are present here, to offer willingly to You.

  • 2 Chr 34:19-33 : 19 And it happened, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he tore his clothes. 20 And the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying, 21 Go, inquire of the LORD for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book. 22 And Hilkiah, and those whom the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spoke to her to that effect. 23 And she answered them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me, 24 Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place and upon the inhabitants of it, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah: 25 Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched. 26 And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, so shall you say to him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which you have heard; 27 Because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place and against the inhabitants of it, and humbled yourself before me, and tore your clothes, and wept before me; I have even heard you also, says the LORD. 28 Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again. 29 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. 30 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, with all the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests, the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD. 31 And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book. 32 And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it.
