  • Jer 43:10-13 : 10 Then say to them, ‘This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to send for and bring Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, my servant, and I will set his throne above these stones that I have embedded here, and he will spread his royal canopy over them. 11 He will come and attack the land of Egypt. Those destined for death will go to death, those destined for captivity to captivity, and those destined for the sword to the sword. 12 I will set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn them and take them captive. He will wrap himself in the land of Egypt as a shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will depart from there in peace. 13 He will smash the sacred pillars of the temple of the sun in the land of Egypt, and he will burn the temples of the gods of Egypt with fire.
  • Jer 44:30 : 30 This is what the LORD says: Behold, I will hand Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, over to his enemies who want to kill him, just as I handed Zedekiah, king of Judah, over to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, his enemy who sought his life.
  • Isa 19:1-9 : 1 An oracle concerning Egypt: Look, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before Him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them. 2 I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians, and they will fight, each against his brother, each against his neighbor, city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. 3 The spirit of the Egyptians will be emptied from within them, and I will confound their plans. They will seek idols, mediums, spirits, and fortune-tellers. 4 I will hand over the Egyptians to a harsh master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord, the LORD of Hosts. 5 The waters will dry up from the sea, and the river will be parched and dry. 6 The rivers will stink, the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up; reeds and rushes will wither. 7 The meadows by the Nile, along the banks of the river, and all sown land by the Nile will wither, be blown away, and be no more. 8 The fishermen will mourn, all who cast hooks into the Nile will lament, and those who spread nets on the water will grow weak. 9 Those who work with combed flax and those who weave fine linen will be dismayed. 10 The pillars of the land will be crushed, and all who work for wages will be dejected in spirit. 11 The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; Pharaoh's wisest counselors give senseless advice. How can you say to Pharaoh, 'I am a descendant of the wise, a son of ancient kings'? 12 Where are your wise men now? Let them tell you and make known what the LORD of Hosts has planned against Egypt. 13 The princes of Zoan have become fools; the princes of Memphis are deceived. They have led Egypt astray, the cornerstone of its tribes. 14 The LORD has mixed within her a spirit of confusion, and they have led Egypt astray in all that it does, like a drunkard staggering in his vomit. 15 There will be no work for Egypt that head or tail, palm branch or reed, can accomplish. 16 In that day, the Egyptians will be like women and will tremble with fear before the uplifted hand of the LORD of Hosts, which He raises against them. 17 The land of Judah will terrify Egypt, and everyone in Egypt who hears the mention of it will be gripped with fear because of the plan of the LORD of Hosts, which He is devising against them. 18 In that day, five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the LORD of Hosts. One of them will be called the City of the Sun. 19 In that day, there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a monument to the LORD on its border. 20 It will be a sign and a witness to the LORD of Hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, He will send them a savior and defender, and He will rescue them. 21 So the LORD will make Himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day, they will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and fulfill them. 22 The LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; He will strike them and heal them. Then they will turn to the LORD, and He will respond to their pleas and heal them. 23 In that day, there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt, and the Egyptians to Assyria, and the Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day, Israel will join a threefold alliance with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing upon the earth. 25 The LORD of Hosts will bless them, saying, 'Blessed be Egypt My people, Assyria My handiwork, and Israel My inheritance.'
  • Isa 29:1-9 : 1 Woe to Ariel, Ariel, the city where David camped! Add year upon year; let the festivals continue. 2 Yet I will bring distress to Ariel, and it will become mourning and lamentation; it will be to me like an altar hearth. 3 I will encamp in a circle against you, I will besiege you with towers, and I will raise siegeworks against you. 4 You will be brought low; from the ground you will speak, and your words will come in a muffled way from the dust. Your voice will sound like that of a ghost from the earth, and your speech will whisper from the dust. 5 But the horde of your enemies will be like fine dust, and the horde of the ruthless ones will be like blowing chaff. Suddenly, in an instant, 6 The LORD Almighty will come with thunder, earthquake, and a loud noise—storm and tempest, and a consuming flame of fire. 7 And all the nations warring against Ariel, all who attack her and her defenses, those who bring her distress, will be like a dream, like a vision of the night. 8 It will be as when a hungry man dreams he is eating, but he wakes and is still hungry; or as when a thirsty man dreams he is drinking, but he wakes and is still faint and craving. So it will be with all the hordes of nations that fight against Mount Zion. 9 Be astonished and amazed! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine—they stagger, but not from strong drink. 10 For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has shut your eyes—the prophets; He has covered your heads—the seers. 11 The entire vision is to you like the words of a sealed book. If it is given to one who can read and they are told, 'Read this, please,' they respond, 'I cannot, for it is sealed.' 12 Or if the book is handed to someone who cannot read, and they are told, 'Read this, please,' they answer, 'I do not know how to read.' 13 The Lord says: 'These people come near to me with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their reverence for me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.' 14 Therefore, I will again do extraordinary things with this people, with wonder upon wonder. The wisdom of their wise will perish, and the understanding of their discerning will vanish. 15 Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, 'Who sees us? Who knows us?' 16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, 'You did not make me'? Can the pot say to the potter, 'You know nothing'? 17 Isn’t it yet a very little while before Lebanon will be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field considered as a forest? 18 On that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. 19 The humble will rejoice in the LORD, and the needy among mankind will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. 20 For the ruthless will vanish, the scoffer will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut off. 21 Those who cause humanity to sin with a word, who set traps for the one who rebukes in the gate, and who twist justice by making the righteous nothing, will be judged. 22 Therefore this is what the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, says to the house of Jacob: 'Jacob will no longer be ashamed, and his face will no longer grow pale.' 23 For when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, they will sanctify My name. They will set apart the Holy One of Jacob and stand in awe of the God of Israel. 24 Those who are confused in spirit will gain understanding, and those who complain will learn instruction.
