    21Elijah approached all the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.

    26So they took the bull that was given to them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, shouting, 'O Baal, answer us!' But there was no response, no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.

    2So Elijah went to appear before Ahab. The famine in Samaria was severe.

    3Ahab summoned Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace. (Now Obadiah revered the LORD greatly.)

    4When Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets, hidden them in two caves in groups of fifty, and provided them with bread and water.

    42So Ahab went up to eat and drink, but Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel, crouched down to the ground, and put his face between his knees.

    17When Ahab saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"

    18Elijah replied, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father's house have, by abandoning the commandments of the LORD and following the Baals.

    18Then Jehu gathered all the people and said to them, "Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu will serve him much.

    19Now summon all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers, and all his priests. Let no one fail to come, for I am going to hold a great sacrifice to Baal. Anyone who fails to come will not live." But Jehu was acting deceptively in order to destroy the worshipers of Baal.

    20Jehu commanded, "Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal." So they announced it.

    21Then Jehu sent messengers throughout all Israel, and all the worshipers of Baal came; not a single one remained behind. They entered the temple of Baal, and it was filled from one end to the other.

    22Jehu said to the keeper of the wardrobe, "Bring out garments for all the worshipers of Baal." So he brought out garments for them.

    23Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab entered the temple of Baal. Jehu said to the worshipers of Baal, "Search and make sure that no servants of the LORD are here with you—only the worshipers of Baal."

  • 3But the angel of the LORD told Elijah the Tishbite, 'Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, "Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?"'

  • 7You shall strike down the house of your master Ahab, so that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the LORD's servants shed by Jezebel.

  • 10He replied, 'I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to take my life.'

  • 9The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, dressed in their royal robes, were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

  • 14Elijah replied, 'I have been very zealous for the LORD God of Hosts, because the Israelites have abandoned your covenant, torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to take my life.'

  • 9Then the king sent a captain with his fifty men to Elijah. He went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of the hill, and said to him, 'Man of God, the king says, "Come down."'

  • 13Meanwhile, a prophet approached Ahab, king of Israel, and said, 'This is what the LORD says: Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and you will know that I am the LORD.'
