32The LORD will bring back his blood on his own head, because he struck down two men more righteous and better than himself—Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army—killing them with the sword without my father David knowing it.
33Their blood will come back on the head of Joab and his descendants forever, but there will be peace from the LORD forever for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne.
34So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down Joab, and killed him. He was buried at his house in the wilderness.
36Then the king sent for Shimei and said to him, 'Build a house for yourself in Jerusalem and live here. Do not leave this city to go anywhere else.'
37'For on the day you leave and cross the Kidron Valley, you can be sure that you will certainly die. Your blood will be on your own head.'
29'If you take this one also from me and harm comes to him, you will bring my gray hair down to the grave in sorrow.'

25Then King Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who struck down Adonijah, and he died.
26To Abiathar the priest, the king said, 'Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death today because you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David and because you shared in his hardships.'
36I am now eighty years old. Can I tell the difference between what is good and bad? Can your servant taste what he eats or drinks? Can I still hear the voices of male and female singers? Why should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?
37Your servant will merely cross the Jordan with the king for a short distance. Why should the king reward me with such a benefit?
16The king said, 'You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and your whole family.'
7Now turn back and go in peace, so you don’t displease the Philistine rulers.
