1When David was living in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am dwelling in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent."
2Nathan replied to David, "Do whatever is in your heart, for God is with you."
3But that same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4"Go and tell my servant David: 'This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.
1Now when the king was settled in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all of his enemies around him,
2the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains in a tent."
3Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you."

5"Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: Is it you who would build me a house to dwell in?
11This is what the Lord says: 'Look, I am going to bring disaster upon you from within your own household. I will take your wives before your very eyes and give them to someone close to you, who will sleep with them in broad daylight.
12You did it in secret, but I will make this happen in front of all Israel and in broad daylight.'
13Then David said to Nathan, 'I have sinned against the Lord.' Nathan replied, 'The Lord has taken away your sin; you will not die.
14However, because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the Lord, the son born to you will surely die.'
15After Nathan had gone home, the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and the child became ill.

24Then Nathan said, "My lord the king, have you declared that Adonijah will reign after you and sit on your throne?
32King David said, "Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada to me." When they came before the king,
11Then Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother, "Have you not heard that Adonijah, the son of Haggith, has become king, and our lord David does not know about it?"
12"Now go, please, let me advise you so that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.
8Then David said to God, "I have sinned greatly by doing this. Now, I beg You, take away the guilt of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly."
9The LORD then spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
