5For I have not lived in a house from the day I brought Israel out until this very day. I have moved from tent to tent and from tabernacle to tabernacle.
6In all the places where I walked with Israel, did I ever say to any of the judges of Israel whom I commanded to shepherd my people, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"
7Now then, tell my servant David: 'This is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.

16Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, LORD God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?

20The LORD has fulfilled His word that He spoke: I have arisen in place of my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have also built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
21And there I have placed a place for the Ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with our ancestors when He brought them out of Egypt.
27'But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Even the heavens, the highest heavens, cannot contain You. How much less this house that I have built!'

12David feared God that day and said, "How can I bring the ark of God to me?"

18'But will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heavens cannot contain You, much less this house that I have built!
32King David said, "Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada to me." When they came before the king,
24Then Nathan said, "My lord the king, have you declared that Adonijah will reign after you and sit on your throne?
4But David had brought the ark of God up from Kiriath Jearim to the place he had prepared for it in Jerusalem, where he had pitched a tent for it.

17When David saw the angel striking the people, he said to the Lord, "I alone have sinned; I, the shepherd, have acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand fall upon me and my family."
